GRAHAM KING
Principal of The PR People

Graham King

PR consultancy was not the beginning. Graham trained as a journalist and worked on regional morning and evening newspapers in Sheffield and Brighton before moving into public relations with the Police Service.

He worked with Forces in West Yorkshire and Sussex and, for five years, was part of the press office team handling international media enquiries during the world’s then biggest ever murder enquiry ... the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.

Later, as a programme publicist for Granada TV he promoted over 100 programme titles from the current affairs flagship series World in Action to the iconic 'soap opera' Coronation Street.

Graham King left in 1992 to set up The PR People – a Cheshire-based media relations service working direct to clients such as the Co-operative Group (he was Joint Organiser of the Co-operative Movement's 150th anniversary celebrations in 1994) as well as in partnership with other agencies to service their clients.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Graham’s PR consultancy has promoted clients in the retail, manufacturing, printing, property, catering, leisure, entertainment and motor industries, in private and public sectors, from restaurants and a stately home to healthcare products and a museum.

He is also a partner in ‘Generation’ – a specialist communications and media relations service for businesses targeting the mature over 50s market.
